E-mail App Needs Improvement
« on: December 31, 2013, 09:12:51 AM »
hi all,
i am tired to email applications.... lack many functions.  :'(
The harmattan mail applications is good and nearly complete  :-\ although you can not copy the email's text.
Then i cannot realize why in Sailfish the application is worse in terms of extensive features! :-[
in Sailfish you cannot zoom the mail; you cannot copy a text; the sort mode is a little confused (missing increasing or decreasing); you cannot choose the option to read all mails unread; the search mode like in N9 does not exist; in my hotmail account I created folders to sort mail by sender and that app does not show me them! Gmail account refresh during a lot of time!
how many people think like me???

Email app needs "archive" / move to all messages folder for gmail, and mark read on the menus, and not coun't unread messages from other folders than the inbox.

I wish the Email app would have a setting for automatically deleting messages from the phone during sync that has been deleted from the server. My Lumia did that.

I usually just check if I get important mail on the phone and then download the emails later with Thunderbird on my laptop and then I still have to  delete the email on both my laptop and my Jolla.. What do you guys think?

You cannot zoom in an e-mail? Yesterday I saw a video of a guy reviewing the Jolla phone and he was zooming in e-mails.

Currently the email application doesn't display the content of many html messages. This iis the #1 issue I'd love to get fixed.

actually maildroid worked nicely for me until this morning, when aptoide upgraded it from 3.99 to 4.00.

Now it no longer wants to start.

Does anyone have an idea what could be done?

(Best would of course be to have a fully working native application that handled multiple accounts and deep layers of subfolders)

Fully agree - the Jolla native e-mail app is bad ... yes, really bad :(

Suggest anyone who is looking for a fully flexible and very capable e-mail app to try "K-9 E-post".

Tried to use the Jolla e-mail app after receipt of the phone in Dec. 2014 but changed quite quickly to "K-9 E-post".

Good luck!

Thanks. I found that I could get maildroid to work again by completely removing it and doing a fresh install (of it). Just means I had to reparameterise my mail accounts.

It works really well. Is K9 doing anything maildroid does not (or less well)?

Hi!
I ‘am not sure about the features and functions of maildroid ... I suppose I tried it before I decided to go for K-9 E-post
but that was 1½ year ago.

I use several mail accounts at different e-mail service providers and all works very well with K-9 E-post.
Maybe some people could find the configuration a bit tricky but that´s (in such case) due to ability to customize the
set up in a number of different ways (depending on your requirements).

The only, but minor, thing I ‘am missing is the possibility to include a picture in the signature (for those e-mail accounts
I use for business and company purpose).

If you have any questions - don´t hesitate to ask!

Thanks, my experience with maildroid is the same as yours with K9 ... probably no need to change for either of us then.

But as said before, it would be HUGE PROGRESS if there were a native sailfish mail client worth its name!

I tried mailbox and it reduced by 2 the autonomy of the phone. Do you have the same problem?
